NOTE: If you are thinking of sorting your own arches out dont take the grinder to them and cut the lip completely off.
So many people attack there arches with a grinder but dont realise they are cutting the spot welds off the arch lip which weakens the arch and the inner arch ends up seperating from the outer arch causing more problems for you later.
We offer a great and affordable arch rolling service. We can roll any arches and offer arch pulling and arch flaring.
Arch rolling your standard arches means having the lip folded back in to the arch, whether its single skin at the front or double skin at the back, its no match for the Professional roller. We can roll the lip back up tight to the bodywork to give you up to an extra 10 -15mm for your Wide Wheels. For most people this maybe all they need to avoid the arch lip catching on the tyre shoulder. From the outside you'd never know, the bodywork and lines remain unchanged.

The arches on this seat arosa have been rolled up tight so that a set of porsche cookie cutters could be fitted. The paint on the arches has not cracked meaning there is no need to book in to a bodyshop for them blowing in.

Once the lip is rolled we can roll that little bit harder, and pull the arch out some more. Its very subtle, but gives you that little more room, the lines of the arch remains essentially unchanged. Not suitable for cars with plastic factory arch extensions or fibre glass body kit. The paint is is more likely to crack than doing an arch roll.
The Arches on the Mk1 Cabriolet below were rolled and then pulled slightly to make sure there was plenty of room to fit the 8" wide banded steels so the car could sit low.

Giving you the maximum room, we flare the Lip of the arch out, it's the total drift look, the euro look, call it what you want it looks cool. The arch profile total changes. You're going to need some Banded Steels to fill those arches. Not suitable for cars with plastic factory arch extensions or fibreglass body kits.

Arch Flaring is when the arches are rolled and then the arch roller is used to stretch the steel arches to stretch them to the point so that they cover the wheels.
The Peugeot 206 below has had the arches flared so that the alloy wheels will fit confortably under the arches.
Unfortunately when the arches are flared you cannot stop the paint flaking as the arch it stretched and flexed so much.
The owner of the car had booked it in to a bodyshop for a respray so was not overly bothered about the paint cracking and flaking.

We have a Mk1 Caddy pickup below, the arches have been cut and had a mk1 repair arch welded to the edge to extend the arch to cover the 8" wide Banded Steels

Advice - to get the best out of our service
-
Make sure the Wheels are made up with the tyres fitted, and are ready to be put on the car -having to guess how much clearance you will need under the arch isimpossible.
-
Clean the arch lips out, you don't want any mud to get trapped in there. Any trapped muck/damp can result in rusting/rotting arches later.
-
We recommend you set your ride height and have your suspension alignment done before the rolling, its makes a big difference to where the wheels sit in the arches. If its not done it may result in the arch roll be in accurate.
-
You need to be present to discuss exactly what you want and if there are any problems that may occur.
The dangers - warning. All work is at YOUR RISK
-
Please be aware any work is at your risk. We can advise on any likely problems on inspecting the car but in the end its down to you, its your call. If the bodywork on your car is original and you are looking for a lip roll this carries the smallest risk. But the paint is still likely to crack and possible flake off on the edge.
Possible problems - Badly applied paint can Flake off, stress cracks can appear in the paint on the rolled edge, and can cause the paint to chip off on the edge, sometimes its unavoidable, however they can be covered with some touch up paint/lacquer. Small dents or creases above the arch are weak points as are the tabs that hold the inner arch in place and could crease the arch slightly and dents may become larger etc when rolled. Flaring in these cases is not recommended but can be done at your risk. Rusty arches can and will definitely fall apart. Accident damage/filler are a problem and will almost certainly require subsequent bodywork. which we can do but at extra cost.
BandedSteels.com can't………
Roll plastic or fibreglass, so if you have a car with wings or a bodykit made of plastic or fibreglass we can't help you.
-
Strip off and refit bodykit, that's down to you. but can be done at our premises.
Flaring - Important Imfomation - Please Read
Flaring is a risk to your paint and even your panels, that's why not many people offers this service. We offer this service on most cars. Bear in mind you should expect to add a skim of filler and paint a flared arch to get a perfect result, but if you are lucky you won't have to.
Flaring - Rear Arches
The best results are seen on cars where the bumper isn't a part of the arch, which are manly japanese cars. or where the arch already has a factory flared profile eg BMW's.
Even so flaring the rears on a flat sided car such as a Seat's and VW's is possible. Where present seam sealer will need to be removed from the inside of the arch lip before the arch can be flared.
We can flare arches pre-rolled but there must be no sealer trapped inside the rolled lip. Difficulties can arise where the flare required is large.
We can advise you on our experience with previous arches that are the same as your car.
Flaring - Front Arches
Flaring front arches can be difficult, as the arches are usually only a single skin this is often not strong enough to be stretched and can deform. This will depend on how much of a flare you are looking for.
We can flare almost any front arch but be prepared to have ti use a skim of filler and have the arches re painted.
If you have arch liners fitted in the inner arches you may have to loose them, we can advise you before we start the work on your car.
